The truth about Dean Henderson Tottenham transfer links as Ralf Rangnick makes Man Utd decision

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a further blow in their pursuit for current Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 24-year-old is desperate for first team football this season having just featured twice for the Reds in both the League Cup and his side's final Champions League group game.

Henderson had been rumoured as a potential replacement for ageing goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, but given he is under contract with the Reds until 2025, a January loan move now seems less and less likely.

Ralf Rangnick has also given his verdict on the situation, stating he wishes to have 'three first-team ready goalkeepers in his squad', according to the Manchester Evening News.

With the former Sheffield United loanee tied down for a further four years with his boyhood club, it would perhaps suggest a substantial fee would be required to prise Henderson away from the North West.

After a difficult start to the 21/22 season for the England international, the Reds' goalkeeper unfortunately suffered from symptoms of 'long Covid' following his return from the illness.

Add that to the terrific form of current United number one David de Gea this season, the 24-year-old may have to wait longer than anticipated for another chance in a United jersey.

It is thought Henderson would be open to leaving the club on a permanent basis to gain more regular first time football, with Ajax also showing a keen interest in the Englishman.

With current contract talks at a standstill between both Hugo Lloris and Tottenham, as the Frenchmen enters the last six months of his current Spurs deal, the goalkeeper conundrum throws another proverbial spanner into the works for boss Antonio Conte.

football.london reported in May that it was unlikely a lot of money would be spent on a goalkeeper in the upcoming windows, meaning Tottenham signing Henderson is highly doubtful.
