The truth about Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi and those Anderlecht move reports

Michy Batshuayi is set to stay at Chelsea this season despite Belgium legend Vincent Kompany coming calling for the striker.

It has been a frustrating start to the 2019/20 campaign for the 25-year-old, with just one substitute appearance lasting seven minutes so far in the Premier League.

The Belgian has slipped behind Tammy Abraham in the pecking order to be the main striker for the Blues, battling it out with Olivier Giroud to be the main back-up.

And with the European transfer market closing today (Monday), Anderlecht are reportedly keen on bringing in the striker to solve their early season woes, which has seen them sit 13th in the table so far.

However, despite Kompany being at the helm, football.london understands Batshuayi is keen to remain at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place in the Chelsea squad.

Having scored a brace for the U23s, Batshuayi was an unused substitute against Norwich City, before coming on late in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United.

With a busy schedule coming up after the international break, there could be more chances for Batshuayi to impress Frank Lampard over the course of the season.

As player/manager, Kompany has had a tough start to life back in Belgium, with Anderlecht getting their first three points of the season at the weekend.

And while he is reportedly interested in signing Batshuayi after a move for Mbaye Diagne fell through, Batshuayi is set to remain at Stamford Bridge.
