The true value of Tottenham star Harry Kane and how he compares to Lionel Messi and Jadon Sancho

Aside from the run to the Champions League final, Spurs have had a tough year.

Going from January to the end of November without an away win saw Mauricio Pochettino depart North London, with Jose Mourinho replacing the Argentine coach.

Since then, results have been mixed, with a good start followed by the current string of three games without a win, including the draw against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup last time out.

The loss away to Southampton on New Year's Day was costly, in terms of both dropped points and personnel, with Harry Kane picking up a hamstring injury.

Mourinho confirmed that Kane's injury is not a minor one, another blow for Spurs fans hoping for a positive run of form.

The striker has been in decent form this season, with 11 goals in 20 Premier League appearances, and a further six strikes in five Champions League games.

He is undoubdtedly one of the top strikers in the world, and according to the CIES Football Observatory, he is worth more than Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

CIES estimates the current transfer value of the top stars in the 'big five' leagues in Europe, with Harry Kane rated as the sixth-most valuable player.

Kane is currently valued at €150.5million (£127.7million) - though Spurs would be sure to ask for more money should another club come calling for the England captain.

The striker is behind just Kylian Mbape (€265.2m - £225.1m), Raheem Sterling (€223.7m - £189.9m), Mohammed Salah (€175.1m - £148.6m), Jadon Sancho (€168.9m - £143.3m) and Sadio Mane (€155.6m - £132.1m).

Kane is followed in the list by Marcus Rashford, who is valued at €134.3m (£114m) and Lionel Messi, who is said to be worth €125.5m (£106.5m).
