The true value of Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham squad ahead of January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur have the most valuable squad of any London club in the Premier League.

With the transfer window across Europe set to reopen in January, a study has gone into finding out who has the most valuable squad in world football.

Unsurprisingly the Premier League are by far the most dominant league when looking at the top-50 most valuable squads in world football, with 15 teams in the rankings.

The most expensive squad belongs to reigning champions Manchester City – whose squad is currently valued €1.28billion, while Tottenham just miss out on a top five spot - rated at €985million behind Paris Saint-Germain.

This comes after splashing out £102.60m (via transfermarkt) on Jack Clarke, Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso during the summer window.

Manchester United are 11th – behind Chelsea in 10th, making them only fifth most valuable squad in English football.

Arsenal follow both clubs in the rankings in 12th.

Of the other nine English sides, there is only one more team in the top-20 in the world and that is Everton who come in at 16th – just shy of £500million in value.

Leicester City are rated 22nd in the world at £353million, with West Ham and Bournemouth coming in at 26th and 27th respectively with Wolves ranked just in the to 30 at 29th with a value of £277million.

Despite many Newcastle United fans bemoaning owner Mike Ashley – they are still have a hugely valuable squad, ranking at 38th with a value of £225million.

Below is a table of the top 10 via Reddit.

Coming next in 40th, 41st and 42nd, again some who may be a surprise, in the shape of Watford, Southampton and Crystal Palace – but again it shows the power of the Premier League.

OddsMonkey spokesman Peter Watton commented: "It is fascinating just to see how much some squads are worth, and some still might find it surprising that Manchester City continue to top the charts ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"The amount of English clubs, given the riches of the Premier League, is not a huge shock but certainly Man United not being in the top-ten, must be a worry to their fans – but only highlights how much they have gone backwards since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson."
