The trick used to try to hide a Swansea attic cannabis farm from heat-seeking police helicopters

A cannabis farm has been found in the roof space of a house in Penlan , Swansea .

Images released by South Wales Police show a sophisticated set up with ventilation fans and heat lamps.

There were also insulation sheets covering the roofing which are designed to stop police helicopters from picking up the heat from cannabis farms on thermal cameras.

A warrant was carried out by Penlan Neighbourhood Policing Team at an address in Heol Gwyrosydd.

The space was set up to reduce heat and avoid detection as much as possible (South Wales Police)

Thirteen cannabis plants were found in the two room attic of the house and a 33-year-old man was arrested in connection with the cannabis growing operation.

He has since been released under investigation.

It comes after another incident at the end of November, when South Wales Police found a "significant"  cannabis factory in High Street, Swansea .

It appears the police were aided by a tip-off from the public to locate the cannabis farm on this occassion.

A spokeswoman for South wales Police said: "Following community intelligence Penlan Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant at an address in Heol Gwyrosydd yesterday.

"Thirteen cannabis plants were seized and a 33-year-old man was arrested and released under investigation."
