Nottingham Forest's summer transfer deadline day next season will now be at the end of August, the EFL have announced.
The League has voted to extend the window and move it back to its traditional deadline, in line with the Premier League's decision made earlier this month.
The transfer window shut just before the first match of the new season in the top two Leagues for the last couple of seasons, with clubs wanting their incomings done and dusted and squad settled before opening game of the season.
But those changes still permitted foreign clubs and sides in Scotland to sign players, leaving squads with gaps if a player decided to move between the first weekend of August and last day of the month.
Now it has been decided that the experiment is over and we will revert to the previous format, giving Forest an extra three weeks to conduct their business ahead of 2020-21.
Forest were busy on deadline day last year , signing midfielder John Bostock from French side Toulouse and Spaniard Chema Rodriguez - who has since departed - from Levante.
Sabri Lamouchi's side are in fourth place in the Championship table with 11 games to go after the 1-0 win at Cardiff City in midweek.
A statement from the EFL read: "EFL Clubs have today reached an agreement in principle to amend the deadline of the Summer Transfer Window to the traditional closing date at the end of August.
"A process for formally adopting the change into EFL Regulations will now take place in due course, bringing Championship Clubs in line with the current position for League One and League Two."
