Talks are reportedly ongoing at the Football Association over proposals to open the summer transfer window in August and leave it open until October.
As things stand, the transfer window in England is set to open on June 18. However, that is likely to change, given both the Premier League and Championship are set to resume that week, and will run until the end of July or early August.
For Nottingham Forest, their campaign will restart on June 20, and could finish in early August if they make it to the play-off final.
According to Sky Sports, world governing body FIFA are set to provide guidance on the parameters between which new windows can be set, and it would then be down to individual associations to finalise specific dates.
Sky say the FA is also consulting with other associations across Europe - and there is said to be some consensus over a deadline of Friday, October 2.
The French Football Federation (FFF) opened their domestic window on Monday, with their leagues having already been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But they are also likely to move to an August-to-October window so international transfers can be conducted between clubs.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) have already announced their transfer window will take place from September 1 to October 5.
Chelsea have already confirmed deals to take place during the window, with Ajax's Hakim Ziyech joining them and RB Leipzig's Timo Werner set to also join the club.
However, the financial implications of coronavirus mean it is unlikely the upcoming transfer window will see as many big money moves as it has in the past few years.
