The Traitors star 'felt like she was on death row' on 'intense' BBC show

The Traitors star Maddy Smedley says being on the BBC show as like "being on death row".

Maddy - who has had roles in both EastEnders and Casualty - was booted out of the BBC show yesterday evening, the last contestant to be banished ahead of the final, which airs tonight. As she stood up and revealed she was a Faithful, the remaining five contestants - two of which are Traitors - were left wondering who they needed to get out next.

Now Maddy has opened up about her experience on the show, admitting she found it very "intense" as she reflected on her journey.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said: "Yeah, I think it was very intense. I think everyone threw themselves into it.

"So I realized I'm more of a method actor cause I felt like I was on death row, but then I think everything's heightened. So even you as a person, you're like, who was that? Or did I say that? And then each time I was like, oh my God. Very intense."

Maddy has now given her verdict on the remaining five contestants.

Of the only remaining original Traitors Wilf, she said: "He's very like charismatic in the group and he's a lovely guy obviously, but just straight away when Claire passed away in the game, he was so upset about that and I was like, what? I didn't even think they were close. So that was [a red flag] straight away. I was like alarm bells, red flag, red flag. And then he looked a bit tired in the end, so I think there was loads of things and I was like, he's tired because he's been up murdering the whole night."

On Kieran, who was also recently recruited as a Traitor, she added: "I really respect him because he has already had such traumatic journey like being kicked off and then coming back. He's had it quite tough. He's brilliant."

Maddy felt Hannah just "goes along with the group" but she thinks that's what kept her in until the final, and she loved being on the show alongside Meryl, adding: "I really loved Meryl. She used to speak so quick that she'd end up saying she was a Traitor.

"Now I'll be like, oh my God, you just said it. I think if I'd have longer on there, I would've realised she's just a faithful defending herself."

Maddy is great friends with Aaron and she thinks they're very similar.

She said: "I'm sad I made him feel upset and stuff [in the show] and so like we sent texts and we are good friends. He even messaged me today ... I actually think we're probably more similar than we think."
