The Traitors’ Shane Gould Has Finally Revealed Who She *Actually* Meant To Eliminate In Ep One

The Traitors' Shane Gould, Cam Merchant and Gamble Breaux

Her time on The Traitors Australia may have been short, but Shane Gould definitely made her mark on the game. Not only was the Australian Survivor champion and iconic Olympian the first player banished during Wednesday night’s round table in a brutal blindside, but she also personally eliminated MAFSCam Merchant in the premiere.

In case you missed it, the sporting legend was voted “most virtuous” player by her co-stars and was subsequently tasked with either eliminating herself or choosing another reality star to leave the game because there were too many people.

She ended up spinning in circles and “randomly” landed on the MAFS groom, although she’s now revealed exclusively to PEDESTRIAN.TV that this wasn’t her intention.

Shane Gould reveals who she meant to send home on The Traitors

Shane confessed following her exit from the game that she had actually planned on sending home The Real Housewives of Melbourne star Gamble Breaux, but ended up selecting Cam when she had her eyes closed.

“What they didn’t show was that I spun around about three times, and I asked, ‘Does anyone want to leave the game?’ to take it off myself,” she detailed.

“I had to think really quickly, do I banish myself? And if I did, would I come back? Is that really a virtuous thing to banish myself? So I think that was probably a wicked thing to stay in it and select someone, but I did have my eyes on Gamble.”

Shane added that, although she “targeted” Gamble, she ultimately “couldn’t make a decision”, which is why she spun around with her eyes closed.

“I was letting my closed eyes and the spin put me off from having to make the real decision,” she continued.

“It was obviously going to be someone in the front row, and I just sort of reached out. But I did do three spins because I was trying to make it fair, so it could’ve been anyone.”

MAFS’ Cam Merchant speaks out about his brutal exit

Shane’s admission comes after Cam told P.TV that he was confident she was targeting another player but landed on him by accident.

“I think she was actually going for Gamble,” he said, pointing out how Shane asked the reality star before making her decision if she was “dressed for running”.

“I think she did spin around with her eyes closed and just landed on me and my velvet jacket — and it must have felt good. So I feel that she may have been going for Gamble, but she just landed on me, and she couldn’t renege.”

Despite the mix-up, Shane said there’s no bad blood between herself and Gamble, and they actually connected during last week’s launch event in Sydney.

“I told her last Tuesday, and she said, ‘I knew!’,” she laughed. “But I spent a bit of time with her and Cam at the event. We connected.”

The Traitors Australia airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7:30pm on 10.
