The Traitors fans react to episode seven's dramatic murder of fan-favourite

In what may have been the most explosive episode of The Traitors so far, fans certainly had a lot to say about the latest dramatic murder.

There were plenty of twists and turns in Wednesday's episode after Miles had handed Diane the poisoned chalice and sealed her fate.

Much to the surprise and confusion of the Traitors, Diane survived to breakfast, as the BBC producers had some dramatic plans for the popular character's murder – all in the name of TV entertainment, of course.

Straight-talking Diane, a 63-year-old former schoolteacher, has become one of the most well-loved Faithfuls on the show.

Not only has she helped add thousands of pounds to the prize fund, but she has a secret of her own – that her son is also in the competition. The secret exchanges between Diane and Ross are also some of the highlights of the show, and have helped her gain the admiration of the country.

Following breakfast, the remaining Faithfuls and Traitors were forced to join a sombre funeral procession as they tried to figure out who was about to be murdered.

Naturally, quick-witted Diane had already figured out who had handed her a drink and made sure the rest of her team knew about it.

Then, in yet another bizarre twist, Diane, Paul and Evie, had to lie in coffins before the murdered contestant was buried.

Sadly, it marked the end of Diane's time on the show, but she has certainly left a lasting legacy. As her final scenes aired, her son also wrote on social media: "RIP ar Di, the queen we never asked for…"

Without giving away too many spoilers, the rest of the episode was just as explosive. It included spats between Traitors, more suspicion pointed at Paul, plenty of twists and turns, and the discovery of the second Traitor of the season.

But it was Diane's "funeral" which was the real talking point. And it wasn't long after the scene aired that BBC fans had taken to social media to share their most entertaining memes as a response.

Such as these passionate reactions to Diane surviving breakfast:

Or these hilarious reactions to Diane being sent away in a coffin.

Or these brilliant comments, that are a great reminder that the nation has a good sense of humour when it comes to reality TV.

And this message, which we really think should become a reality.

What's more, at least Miles has seen the funny side to the Faithfuls discovering his identity, thanks to the help of the other Traitors.
