The Traitors fans fume as Lorraine spoils twist with 'epic fail' exit interview

Those tuning into ITV's Lorraine on Wednesday, December 21 all had the same complaint as Ranvir Singh sat down to chat to the latest banished contestant from BBC's The Traitors. The presenter, who is currently back at the helm of the daytime show as Lorraine Kelly takes a break for Christmas, announced she would be chatting to axed The Traitors star Amanda Lovett.

The Welsh contestant was the latest to be banished from the game after her co-conspirator and fellow traitor, Wilfred, turned on her during the roundtable discussion. You can read more on this here.

However, while many were delighted to see the Swansea-born estate agent back on screens, others were left fuming as they had not watched the episode and accused Lorraine of spoiling it for them, despite Amanda's exit airing last night. "Lorraine thanks for spoiling the outcome of The Traitors," wrote one. "It would have helped if there was some warning."

While another added: "Massive spoiler for The Traitors, thanks for ruining it for me as was gonna watch it this morning. Absolutely no point now." As a third said: "Thanks for letting us know who went out of The Traitors."

And a fourth commented: "Thanks Lorraine @ITV just blurt out the results of The Traitors without a spoiler warning why don't you!! No need to watch it now!"

Not everyone agreed, however, with one pointing out: "It's not a spoiler once it's been broadcast." And another added: "Not a spoiler once it has aired."

Some viewers also felt there was a missed opportunity during the interview as Ranvir didn't ask Amanda her feelings on Wilfred's shocking betrayal. Taking to Twitter, one disappointed viewer asked: "So Lorraine bagged 1st TV interview with Amanda from 'Traitors' and Ranvir didn't ask a single thing about Wilfred's betrayal last night because she hadn't watched it. EPIC FAIL."

While another added: "They could have got somebody who has actually properly watched the show to interview Amanda."

However, during the chat Amanda did talk about "murdering" her fellow players and how she felt about the brutal role she had to play. "In the beginning, it was much easier, we hadn't formed relationships with people so it was just the strongest characters then because people would gravitate towards them," she explained.

Adding "We had to control the game and we didn't want their opinions going through the contestants. It's like herd mentality."

On the roundtable discussions, which has seen many faithfuls wrongly banished, Amanda continued: "I think everybody was so scared because they wanted to stay in the game so they went with the majority all the time, so we had to eliminate strong characters who people would follow."

As for how she went undetected for so long, Amanda said: "We all wear a mask... we all have bad days. But you get up, put your uniform on, go to work and play the role." She added that she has five children and five grandchildren and believed people put their trust in her as a mother figure.

She explained: "They really believe in you, connect with you, and don't want you to be that person who's betraying them, murdering them."

Amanda also spoke about life after the show, which has turned out to be a huge hit, explaining: "It's a bit crazy and a bit lovely. People recognised me in the airport and in a restaurant out in Rome. I'm enjoying it and to be called an icon of the gay community is just absolutely fantastic, I'm loving the love."

The Traitors returns at 9pm on Wednesday, December 21 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
