Celtic are carefully studying success story clubs from across Europe in a bid to elevate their recruitment to "world class" status.
New chief-executive Dominic McKay wants to "evolve" the club's operations from top to bottom - including in the transfer market.
The Parkhead side have a patchy recruitment record over recent years despite a period of unprecedented success, with players such as Marian Shved, Vakoun Bayo and Patryk Klimala, among others, recruited from the continent before failing to make the grade.
A disastrous 2020/21 campaign was also punctuated by disappointing loan signings in Shane Duffy, Diego Laxalt and Jonjoe Kenny.
But there have also been successes in the likes of Odsonne Edouard, who looks set to be sold for considerable money and Moussa Dembele, who joined Lyon for just under £20million.
McKay insists he has surveyed dealings over several years and pointed to clubs such as serial Europa League winners Sevilla and unlikely Premier League new boys Brentford as examples Celtic are looking to learn lessons from.
He said: "I've received quite a lot of reports on how things have gone over the past number of years. Recruitment's one area I've seen reports on.
"It's really critical for this club to make sure it's world class, that it looks around the world to benchmark itself.
"And that's what we're going to be doing - whether that's recruitment, academy, business operations, whatever that may be - to benchmark ourselves against the best in class.
"We want to, definitely, evolve that. The lessons about the past, of course you'll learn those, but I really want to learn the lessons of other successful and similar sized clubs across the world.
"And there's good examples of those, be it Sevilla or Brentford, whoever it might be.
"We're looking at that right now."
