The Tottenham morning headlines as Redknapp sends Kane transfer message, Mourinho praise

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Thursday, April 2.

Alderweireld praises Mourinho’s man-management

Toby Alderweireld has praised Jose Mourinho’s man-management skills and reflected on life in lockdown.

The centre-back has revealed that several Spurs players have been training at home via video conferencing with the club’s coaching staff.

“We try to work and we have our schedules. We have to be fit because you never know when we start playing again. We have to be ready for it,” he told Sky Sports.

Can Jose Mourinho turn Spurs around?

"He's a very good people manager.

"Even in this period when it's difficult and no one has ever experienced it, he is doing wonderful and everyone is so happy he's here.

"It's all positive and we are looking forward to working again together on the screen or, of course, the training ground."

Redknapp talks up Kane move

Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes Harry Kane would be an excellent signing for Manchester City.

Kane cast doubt on his future last weekend by stating that he would not stay at Spurs “for the sake of it”.

The England captain has since been linked with a move to Manchester United, but Redknapp reckons he would also suit their crosstown rivals.

"Listen, Harry is an ambitious boy. He's a fantastic professional, a great lad, and he wants to play and he wants to win things," he told Sky Sports.

"And what a player he would be for one of those top clubs. I don't want to see him leave Tottenham and nor do Tottenham fans, but what a centre-forward he would be for Man City for instance with [Sergio] Aguero coming to the end.

"He'd be a great signing for anybody. He's a great player and a great professional - hopefully he'll stay at Tottenham but he won't stay unless he sees them pushing to win things."

Sheringham picks Spurs man as top team-mate

Teddy Sheringham, who celebrates his 54th birthday today, has named Darren Anderton as his best ever team-mate.

Sheringham is one of Spurs’ greatest players of the Premier League era, having scored 124 goals in 277 games across two spells with the club.

In between those stints the striker represented Manchester United, and he picked Gary Neville and David Beckham as his second and third top colleagues respectively.

But number one spot was reserved for Anderton, who played alongside Sheringham at White Hart Lane in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Sheringham selected four former Spurs stars and seven ex-United players in his best ever XI, with Anderton, Ian Walker, Sol Campbell and Gary Mabbutt all making the cut.
