The Tottenham morning headlines as former midfielder hits out at hierarchy and Kane exit talk

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur morning headlines for Monday, April 6.

Wanyama hits out at Spurs hierarchy

Victor Wanyama says he was “frustrated” with the way he was treated towards the end of his Tottenham career.

The Kenya international left Spurs for Montreal Impact in March having made only four appearances in 2019/20.

“I was frustrated with how I was treated [at Tottenham] and it was bad,” he told CBC .

“I lost a little bit of passion. For me to lose passion? I’m the guy that loves the game. I was so frustrated and I just wasn’t happy.

Rob Guest's full Tottenham Q&A

“The first thing [Jose Mourinho] told me, he was wondering why I wasn’t playing. I have to be playing.

“The problem wasn’t with the coach if you ask me. The problem was a little bit upstairs and they didn’t give me a chance.”

Pundits predict Kane exit

Sky Sports pundits Paul Merson and Jamie Carragher believe Harry Kane could leave Tottenham in the near future.

The Spurs striker cast doubt on his future by stating during an Instagram Q&A session that he would not remain in north London “for the sake of it”.

And Merson and Carragher think Tottenham could struggle to hang on to their prized asset.

"If Harry Kane wants to win stuff, he may have to leave Tottenham. Will Kane get six or seven chances a game playing the way Jose Mourinho does? I don't think so. For me that's what he needs to weigh up," former Arsenal midfielder Merson told Sky Sports News .

And Carragher thinks the disruption to the football calendar could prompt Kane to depart sooner than he may have done otherwise.

“Kane turns 27 in July. We have no idea when the next transfer window will open or next season start. If Kane does not leave soon, the situation gets trickier for him,” the ex-Liverpool defender told the Telegraph .

However, Carragher also acknowledged that a possible financial crisis within the game could price rival clubs out of a move for the England captain.

Redknapp’s Tottenham transfer regret

Missing out on Gary Cahill was one of Harry Redknapp’s biggest regrets as Tottenham manager, according to his son Jamie.

Cahill joined Chelsea from Bolton in January 2012 and spent six and a half years with Spurs’ London rivals.

Tottenham were also interested in the centre-back, who went on to win 61 caps for England.

And in a video call with Cahill hosted by the Daily Mail , former Spurs midfielder Redknapp revealed that his dad was hugely disappointed to be beaten to the defender’s signature.

“I went to one of those games against Tottenham [for Bolton] and I remember my dad saying afterwards: ‘I’ve got to sign him, he’s different class’,” he said.

“Then you went to Chelsea. I know for a fact one of my dad’s big regrets is missing out on you.”
