The Tottenham evening headlines as Jose Mourinho taunts Pep Guardiola and latest injury news

Here are your Tottenham evening headlines for Friday, February 21.

Tottenham team news

Mourinho has said that he's hopeful of naming club record signing Tanguy Ndombele in his Tottenham starting lineup at Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman has struggled with injuries throughout his debut season, but he got 30 minutes under his belt in the Champions League defeat at the hands of RB Leipzig on Wednesday night and is in contention to face the Blues.

"At least he's not been injured in the last few weeks, he played a good 30 minutes in the last game and it was a game of high intensity," Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference.

"And hopefully he'll only improve.

"I hope that the first time he plays a match in the starting line-up, he can play and be on the pitch for 60-90 minutes and not have any setback."

Jose Mourinho taunts Pep Guardiola

Last week the footballing world was in a state of shock amid news of Manchester City's ban from European competition for the next two seasons after the reigning Premier League champions committed a serious breach of Financial Fair Play Regulations and were hit with a €30million (£25m) fine on top of their ban.

While the ban is subject to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, it appears that whoever finishes in fifth will get the final Champions League place in City's absence.

It could potentially get even worse for the club as it has also been reported that they could also be stripped of two of their league titles.

Mourinho was in charge of Manchester United during the 2017/18 season as they finished in second and a huge 19 points behind their rivals. He joked that he could be given another league title after last Sunday's 3-2 win over Aston Villa and the Portuguese boss once again mentioned it during his press conference ahead of Saturday's game against Chelsea.

With one reporter mentioning that he previously said his biggest achievement was finishing in second behind City, he said: "Maybe I'll win that title?"

Lampard picks out Tottenham's dangermen

Frank Lampard has warned his Chelsea players that Dele Alli and Lucas Moura have the potential to cause havoc in the absences of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

The former has been out of action since New Year's Day, while the latter suffered an arm injury in last weekend's 3-2 win over Aston Villa and both are unavailable against the Blues.

However, Lampard is remaining wary of Spurs' attacking options.

Asked if Jose Mourinho will have a trick up his sleeve with no strikers in his squad, Lampard said: "He has got attacking players, let’s get it right. Dele Alli for me his best season at Tottenham was playing up with Harry Kane at times.

"Lucas Moura scored a hat-trick in the Champions League semi-final last year and is an incredible talent on the ball. There are attacking players.

"Will Jose Mourinho set his team up smartly? Yes because he is a fantastic manager. They have attacking players who can give us problems.”

Mourinho on Lampard meeting

Jose Mourinho has said that coming up against Frank Lampard once again will not be special.

The Portuguese tactician managed the Blues head coach across two spells at Stamford Bridge and is yet to beat him since in a coaching capacity following a 2-0 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier in the season.

Furthermore, Lampard's Derby County side beat Mourinho's Man United team on penalties in the Carabao Cup last season and as a result the Spurs boss is playing down the latest meeting.

"No. Seeing him is always nice, if I meet him in the street, a restaurant or in the corridor of a football stadium," Mourinho said during his pre-match press conference. "Even as an opponent it's always nice to see him, but not special to play against his team.

"It's not against him.

"It's my team against his team, not special."
