The Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United games that could prove pivotal in the top-four race

It appears that it won't be just Chelsea and Tottenham fighting it out for a top-four spot come the end of the season.

With the Blues having a huge 12-point advantage over their north London rivals back in November, the lead is now down to four points and they meet at Stamford Bridge later this month in what should be a mouth-watering clash.

However, Chelsea's recent poor run of results has left the door open for a number of other teams to clinch the final spot in Europe's elite competition.

Sheffield United are currently in fifth and two points behind Frank Lampard's side following Sunday's 2-1 win over Bournemouth, with Everton also moving up the table over the past few weeks after an upturn in results under Carlo Ancelotti.

Manchester United and Wolves are also right in the mix with 13 games to play and there will definitely be plenty of points won and lost between now and May.

Here we take a look at the league games that could prove pivotal in the race for the top four over the coming weeks.

Monday, February 17

Chelsea vs Manchester United

The Blues really are on a wretched run at the moment and they've opened the door for other clubs.

Given Spurs play before them next week, they really must win or there's a chance they will be leapfrogged by Jose Mourinho's side when they meet the following week.

Saturday, February 22

Chelsea vs Tottenham

Having whittled the lead down to three points before the side's met in N17 back in December, Spurs must ensure that they come out on top this time.

Stamford Bridge hasn't been kind to them in the past but they will be confident of getting a result this time based on recent form.

Spurs against Wolves is also a huge game for both clubs as they bid to seal a European spot come May.

Sunday, March 8

Manchester United vs Man City

Monday, March 16

Everton vs Liverpool

It will be interesting to see where Everton are in the league table come the middle of March as they have some tough games coming up.

The Blues will be desperate to beat their Merseyside rivals and three points against the runaway league leaders would give them a huge boost for the rest of the season.

Everton, providing that they are still high up the table, have the kindest fixture as they host Bournemouth at Goodison.
