The Toby Alderweireld injury update Tottenham fans will love as defender posts video

Tottenham fans will be delighted by Toby Alderweireld's injury update.

Spurs fans will have been left feeling very concerned after the defender was taken off with a muscular injury during the weekend's Premier League win over Manchester City.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho did, however, provide an encouraging update during the week, saying: "He has a muscular injury but not as big as we initially thought.

"He will have time to be out but not like a month which is what we immediately thought. So I would say between two and four weeks. But of course he is not playing tomorrow."

Tottenham vs Chelsea - Head to head

And if that wasn't enough to lift spirits, the Belgian himself has now posted a video of himself working hard in the gym on Instagram, along with the caption: "The hard work continues. Feeling better each day and hope to be back with the team as soon as possible.

"Wishing the boys all the best for tonight."

The video showed Alderweireld going through a number of exercises, all of them were upper body exercises, the defender working on the ropes, with a medicine ball and on the rowing machine.

Nevertheless, Spurs fans will be delighted to see him working in the gym and already working on his recovery given there was real concern about how much action he would miss after the man City game.

Alderweireld has been key again this season for Spurs during their fine start to the Premier League campaign, making 10 appearances across all competitions.

Spurs will now have to attempt to hold on to top spot without him in the coming weeks and there is no tougher start as far as the Premier League is concerned.

After Mourinho's men take on Ludogorets in the Europa League tonight, they face London rivals and fellow fast starters Chelsea on Sunday, and without their key man at the back.
