The Toast Office in Belfast is a cheese lovers' dream

Every New Year I tell myself the same lie... that I’m going to turn into some fitness guru.

But then some little food gem pops up in Belfast to totally an annihilate all my good intentions. What can I say, I’m weak.

This time it was The Toast Office, the latest pop-up at Belfast's Hill Street Hatch.

It’s already been such a hit that its initial month-long run has been extended for another month.

And after our visit, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.

We rocked up around noon and there was already a decent queue, but after seeing a previous snap of the line on social media it seemed tame so we decided to commit.

The menu is small but when what you do is so good, a few options are all you need.

After a bit of deliberation, we went for Fancy Ham & Cheese (£6) and the Pastrami & Pickles (£7).

We were greeted by the friendliest guy who was taking orders, and in the current climate it was lovely to be reminded of Belfast’s incredibly welcoming nature.

It just made me even more eager for our hospitality industry to get up and running again.

We took our ticket and joined the queue and only had to wait around five to 10 minutes before our order was up.

Opening up our parcel, the grilled sandwiches were the stuff of cheese lovers’ dreams as it oozed out of the middle and looked amazing as I pulled the two halves apart.

Using the best local sourdough from French Village and cheese from Coolattin Cheddar in West Wicklow, these grilled cheeses are not to be missed! After all, we all deserve a wee treat every now and then.

My only suggestion about my own Pastrami one is that it could have used a few more pickles, I think I found two and for the amount of cheese another two would have made it perfect.

It’s potentially only around for another few weeks, so make sure you check it out and support our hospitality industry.
