With the Basilisk Mobile, Razer challenged itself to create a new addition for its lineup unlike any that came before.
This is a gaming mouse, sure. It's a wireless mouse, sure. It's an ergonomic mouse that blends performance and productivity features, sure. Above all of that, though, it's also much smaller than your average mouse.
The Razer Basilisk Mobile is designed to take everything that's great about the rest of the Razer Basilisk mice, like my all-time favorite Razer Basilisk V3 Pro that we reviewed, and condense all of that greatness into an itty bitty package.
It's designed for ultimate portability, but does it really succeed? I've been using the Basilisk Mobile since I first went hands-on, and it really does strike a remarkable balance... but it can't entirely avoid the inevitable compromises that come with.

Basilisk Mobile review: Pricing and specifications
The Basilisk Mobile isn't one of Razer's most premium mice, but it certainly can't be described as a budget offering, either.

Basilisk Mobile review: What I like
Only consider still images, and you might convince yourself the Basilisk Mobile isn't much smaller than your average mouse. Only consider the on-paper specs, and you may be led to believe the shrunken dimensions don't make a real-world difference.
Actually use the Basilisk Mobile, though, and the differences are stark. Compare it to the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro mouse, and you'll find the Mobile is only 1.1mm thinner and is actually 0.8mm wider, but it's 18.5mm shorter — and that has a major impact.
Razer did an excellent job taking the distinctly angular design of the Basilisk mice and squeezing it into a smaller, lighter package, but you still enjoy the same grippy sides and ergonomic thumb rest. I've used other ultraportable mice designed for travel, and this is among the most comfortable to use.
Build quality is excellent, too, and Razer didn't cut corners. You get Razer's wonderful optical mouse switches, a lovely 4-way HyperScroll Tilt Wheel, and three extra buttons on the right side of the mouse. There's even a garage on the bottom of the mouse to store your Razer HyperSpeed USB dongle.
This tiny mouse even boasts some Razer Chroma RGB lighting, but it's just one zone (the Razer logo on the rear).
The Razer Basilisk Mobile absolutely takes up noticeably less space in a bag, on your desk, in your hand, wherever, but the actual user experience is a step above your average "travel mouse."
This is far from Razer's highest performance mouse, but you do still get a precise optical sensor with up to 18,000 dots-per-inch (DPI) and large, silky smooth PTFE feet. Whether you're gaming or working, the Basilisk Mobile is consistently accurate and responsive.
You get fantastic performance with wireless connectivity, but I expect no less from Razer's mice. The Basilisk Mobile can connect to your PC via 2.4GHz Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, but can connect to practically any device via Bluetooth. In a pinch? You can also fall back on the same wire you use to charge the internal battery.
Battery life has been shockingly good for such a small mouse, too, with Razer quoting up to 105 hours when connected via HyperSpeed — even with the max 1,000Hz polling rate. Bluetooth can squeeze even more life out of this mouse. I've not had to worry about charging this mouse at all.
Of course, the Razer Basilisk Mobile does support Razer's Synapse software, with solid (but basic) support for remappable controls, performance options, Razer HyperShift shortcuts, and more.
This is another Razer mouse with the new AI Prompt Master built-in, like in the Razer Pro Click V2 I reviewed. As I've said in the past, this feature is just fine. Some will undoubtedly find it useful to have ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot features easily accessed with a single button press, but others can simply reprogram that button to do something else.
Basilisk Mobile review: What I don't like
I've praised Razer's execution of this shrunken ergonomic design, but it does have its drawbacks. These aren't flaws, but compromises inherent to balancing two opposing design philosophies.
On one hand, the Basilisk Mobile simply isn't as comfortable as Razer's full-sized mice, especially if you have larger hands like I do. In a similar vein, it's not as intuitive to use. It's far easier to mis-click the smaller side buttons, for example, and switching between tilting modes is a little more awkward.
On the other hand, the Basilisk Mobile isn't as thin as many other travel mice, and it's the Z-axis that's most important for easily slipping a mouse into a pocket. This mouse is just as taller as any other gaming mouse, which is great for comfort but not for portability.
Finally, I do feel like the Razer Basilisk Mobile is priced a little high at $90. That's only $10 less than the aforementioned Razer Pro Click V2, which is obviously much larger, but also boasts better performance and more features.
As a brief side note, I do lament the lack of Razer's Smart-Reel feature for the HyperScroll Tilt Wheel (which lets you dynamically switch between tactile and free scrolling). That alone would've more than justified the pricing for me.

Even available in a single color, the Razer Basilisk Mobile is cute. The adage "big things come in small packages" is embodied by this adorable mouse, which pairs that travel-friendly design with an impressive list of specs.
It's shockingly compact, but it's not the most portable mouse. It's shockingly comfortable, but it's absolutely not the most ergonomic mouse. It's shockingly capable, but it's not the most feature-packed mouse. It's shockingly responsive, but it's not the most performant mouse.
The Razer Basilisk Mobile attempts to balance it all, delivering a quality wireless gaming mouse that can also slip into a pocket or bag, and it does an excellent job doing so. Whether it's the best mouse for you will depend on how often your travel and what you do while on the go.
