I think we have all seen, or at least heard of, this emotionally heart wrenching book or, even, the film! Reading this, I had an idea of the plot and how it flowed due to previously watching the films several times-which means basically crying several times!
The story follows Clare and Henry, in dual perspectives, and their lives together and how they are intertwined. However, there is a catch to their relationship for Henry is a time traveller, unable to stay fixed in his own time line or with Clare. Henry faces physically and emotionally challenging situations caused by his ability. Clare first met Henry when she was 6 and he was 38, while Henry first met Clare when he was 28 and she was 21. With their story we explore how they make their relationship work together.
I loved this love story, although I think just classing it as a love story simply isn't good enough because it is so much more; this is a story which you are able to visualise so clearly that it becomes real. It is real and you follow these two people who are so emotionally dedicated to one another, and destined to be together, they fight against time to stay together in the present. This story evoked so much emotion that I cried for an hour straight after reading this book!
The way Niffenegger writes its flows like time but also like life, while you're reading almost no time passes and nothing is real due to the effortless flow of the story. Although it is 518 pages long, I managed to read it in mere days due to the story being so intense. To describe this book I feel that I am almost unable to because it was so beautiful.
