The time Prince performed with some of the world's greatest guitarists and blew them all off the stage

Prince is celebrated as an immensely skilled musician, and it's easy to see why from watching his iconic performance at the 2004 Hall of Fame Inductions.

In a tribute performance marking Geroge Harrison's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Prince, perform's Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps alongside Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and other musicians.

Towards the end of the song, Prince plays a frenetic guitar solo, upstaging the extremely talented musicians on stage.

At one point, Prince even leans backwards into the audience while continuing his solo.

He ends the performance by throwing his guitar into the air in front of him as his final notes ring out.

"I want to be friends with him," Harrison's son, Dhani, said backstage. "We're the same height."

Prince died at his recording studio aged 57.

He was hospitalised last week with flu, though the cause of his death is not yet known.

His death was confirmed by his spokesperson.
