The time is now for the Steelers to make an offer on S Jamal Adams

Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers took advantage of a franchise in turmoil and a player looking for a change when they traded their 2020 first-round pick for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The move at the time was deemed high risk/high reward but quickly proved to be brilliant. Fitzpatrick became and All-Pro and one of the best safeties in the NFL.

The Steelers now have a chance to do this again. New York Jets safety Jamal Adams put the Jets franchise on blast, calling out head coach Adam Gase and general manager Joe Douglas this week.

If the Steelers are really going all-in this season, making an offer for Adams now, while his asking price is at its lowest makes perfect sense. If the rumors are true the 2021 salary cap is going to be slashed, this team could end up being dismantled by free agency next season so there really is no tomorrow to win with Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback.

Adams and Fitzpatrick in the defensive secondary would be unstoppable. And looking to the next season if the salary cap forces out linebackers Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt, it would make like much easier on a new tandem of edge rushers.

What do you think? Would you be ok with the Steelers offering a first-round pick and maybe more for Adams? Let us know.
