British musical trio The Tiger Lillies have put a cabaret spin on Shakespeare’s revenge tragedy. Following its debut in Denmark and a European tour, the trio will bring the Weimar-era–style show, which they have dubbed their ‘opera grotesque’ to the Perth stage.
The story of the anguished prince is transformed with a suite of the band’s new songs, and the trio tell the story with circus acts and giant puppets while frontman Martyn Jacques sings out Hamlet’s sorrow with his haunting falsetto.
