Spurs fans will love what former Newcastle man has said about Liverpool's midfield

Tottenham will take on Liverpool in the Champions League final this week.

And former Aston Villa and Newcastle defender Habib Beye has appeared to fire a shot at the Reds ahead of the big showdown in Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp's side face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final on Saturday, having pushed Manchester City to the final day of the Premier League, finishing second on 97 points.

But the ex-Senegalese international seemingly suggested that the Reds have been fortunate to be playing Mauricio Pochettino's side at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium with the personnel that they have at their disposal.

Speaking to Canal Football Club on French television, Beye was asked about the fortunes of Paris Saint-Germain, who have endured a mixed season under Thomas Tuchel.

The German manager claimed the Ligue 1 title in his first attempt, but lost in the final of the French Cup to Rennes, and saw his team knocked out of the Champions League by Manchester United.

And despite PSG having the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their ranks, Beye believes the French side are proof that star names do not guarantee success, making a direct comparison to Liverpool, using three of their players as an example of supposed mediocrity.

He said: “Liverpool are about to go into a Champions’ League final with Milner, Henderson & Wijnaldum.

"We need to stop thinking that PSG can’t do it because of the players that they have.”
