Police are warning about a spike in catalytic converter thefts in Bolton - with three types of cars being targeted.

Officers say 19 converter thefts on residential streets have been reported in the borough since February, marking a concerning uptick.

Thieves are targeting 'predominantly Toyotas' along with some Kia and Hondas.

The crimes are typically carried out by a gang of 'three to four men' who arrive in a car.

"There have been 19 of these crimes reported in Bolton since February.

"The crimes are occurring on residential streets and the vehicles targeted are predominantly Toyotas, with some Kia and Hondas also targeted.

"The offending group typically includes three to four males who arrive in a vehicle. Vehicles seen to be used by offenders are a Silver Vauxhall Astra, an Audi vehicle and a Ford Mondeo.
