The three hidden Liverpool starlets who could play starring role in battle with Man City

As Liverpool's U18s side prepare to face Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup final on Thursday evening, the names Bobby Duncan and Paul Glatzel are perhaps the stand-outs from those who will make Barry Lewtas' starting XI for the showpiece game.

Glatzel was the two-goal hero in the semi-final victory over Watford at Anfield just over a month ago, while Duncan has hit 30 goals for Reds' youth sides this season since he arrived from Thursday's opponents last summer.

Why Liverpool have been given a Youth Cup disadvantage

But they are far from the only ones to have made a significant contribution to the young Reds' progression through the tournament.

Yasser Larouci

The 18-year-old former winger - now converted to playing as an attack-minded full-back for the young Reds - arrived from French side Le Harve around two years ago.

Since then, Larouci has worked hard to establish himself as a crucial member of the U18s team, with his marauding runs from deep and strength on the ball a common sight for Lewtas' side both at the Academy and away from home.

While it is clear that his winger's instincts are still very much alive - and his first thought is often to dribble forwards with ball at his feet - Larouci's defensive work has improved significantly over the last few months, and Thursday's final will be another chance for him to impress on the big stage.

Jake Cain

A part of the Reds' Academy since he joined at the U9s age group, the creative midfielder has an eye for a pass and an excellent work ethic. He often dictates the pace of the game from the centre of the pitch, and is a trusted member of Lewtas' side both in and out of possession, rarely misplacing a pass and capable of putting in a strong tackle when required.

Not 18 until September, Cain has been a crucial part of the Reds' run to the final, playing in all but one of the five rounds the young Reds have traversed so far, including scoring in the 5-1 victory against Bury in the quarter-finals.

He will once again be important in keeping his side ticking over and will also hope to build on his tally of three goals this season.

Abdi Sharif

Another who has been a Liverpool player since the age of nine, the exciting winger has played in a variety of roles during his time in a red shirt, including at full-back, centre-back and in the middle of midfield.

He has been a regular in the U18s setup for more than two years, and made his first start for the U23s earlier this season in the Premier League International Cup against Swansea City, where he notched an assist and immediately looked comfortable at a higher level.

Capable of playing on either side and using his pace and trickery to beat players, Sharif could be a key weapon on Thursday night, in terms of finding the prolific front pairing or hitting the back of the net himself.
