The three first team competitions Man City can use new signing Kayky in

Manchester City have bolstered their first team options by bringing forward the arrival of new signing Kayky.

The Brazilian teenager was originally set to arrive in January 2022, but an agreement was reached with Fluminese for him to travel after the end of the August transfer window. He arrived at the club last week and started training with Pep Guardiola and the first team last Friday.

While the match with Wycombe on Tuesday night is expected to come to soon for the 18-year-old to feature, he is eligible for the Carabao Cup after being registered as part of City's Premier League squad. That means that, should Guardiola wish, he can pick Kayky for selection in those two competitions as well as the FA Cup.

However, the player will not be available for any of the five remaining group stage matches in the Champions League. Having not been included in City's List A squad, he does not qualify under List B rules because he has not been at the club for at least two years.

If the Blues make the knockout stages, they have room on List A to be able to add Kayky into their squad for the business end of the Champions League.

Kayky could also feature for City's youth teams if coaches want to improve his match sharpness. The club can amend their UEFA Youth League squad before matches so could include the forward, and he can also feature in the Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.
