The three Edinburgh dogs who have waited the longest to find their forever home

Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home have released an appeal to find a 'furever' home for three dogs who have been waiting years to be rehomed in the capital.

In a post on their Facebook page, the organisation said: "Romeo: 537 days.

"Nelson: 437 days.

"Biscuit: 442 days.

"They have all been with us longer than necessary. They all show love in their own way. They all need a loving home and understanding owners.

"Please help us find their perfect match."

The three pooches have been at the shelter for a total of 1,416 days altogether, as the right match is yet to come along for these lovely little companions.

First up is little Biscuit, a cross Collie and Staffie female, who is approximately three years and two months old.

Biscuit is a nervous girl who is wary of strangers. (Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home)

Biscuit is a super high energy girl who is very independent and prefers to have her own space to play with her toys, rather than have attention.

Biscuit is a nervous girl who is wary of strangers and needs a owner who will be prepared to visit her a few times so she can get to know them.

She is looking for an owner with experience of resource guarding, who preferably has had a nervous dog in the past.

She needs a adult only home, with no visiting children under the age of 16, where she will be the only pet.

Our next furry friend is Nelson, a six-year-old Spaniel/JRT mix who would prefer a home with a garden as he is an energetic wee creature.

Nelson has lots of energy so likes to keep active. (Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home)

Nelson is a happy wee boy who loves to have fun.

He likes playing with his toys, whether that’s chasing after a ball, throwing around a squeaky toy, or keeping himself amused with a tasty filled Kong.

He can be reactive around other dogs, but has been working on this and is now happy to wear a muzzle and is more likely to take a treat than react badly.

Nelson has a lot of potential and is sure to be a very rewarding pet for the right owner.

And finally, suave Romeo is our last wee guy to be adopted by his forever owners.

Romeo is a very nervous boy who can find life a bit overwhelming at times. (Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home)

Romeo is almost three years old, and is a staffie who would love a quiet home away from the centre of town.

Romeo is looking for an experienced owner who has had an anxious dog in the past and can commit to helping him reach his full potential.

He would suit an adult only home where he will have company for most of the day.

He would like to have his own private and secure garden, and needs a main door home so he doesn’t have to pass neighbours to get inside.

He needs to be the only pet in his new home and needs to live away from the city or other busy area, where there are quiet areas he can go for exercise.

Romeo would benefit from working with a behaviourist and needs an owner who is financially able to commit to this.
