The thinnest house in London is in a prime location but no one is buying it

The thinnest house in London is an architectural oddity that comes with a hefty price tag.

On the market for £795,000, the two-bedroom flat is located in South Kensington’s famous 5 Thurloe Square.

But while it's situated in a highly sought-after location, it seems there are no takers for The Thin House, as it's been on the market for two months already.

It is just 6ft at its narrowest point and there are a few potential reasons why no one has snapped up the basement flat, MyLondon report.

Likely the main reason is also the explanation for the house’s thinness.

Unlike other houses on the street, The Thin House is almost directly conjoined with the tube line that runs along the back of the property.

This could also go to explain why buyers might not be keen to cough up for the flat.

The house was built in such a way that it almost feels like an optical illusion with its unusual wedge shape design making the whole house look rather bizarre.

Rightmove describes the flat on its website as: “A beautiful two bedroom, two bathroom home in fantastic decorative order in historic former artist studios.

The open plan living area is 7.25m long by 4.01m wide (Rightmove)

“Located on one of the best garden squares in Kensington and Chelsea with direct access to a south facing patio/terrace as well as access to the beautiful and dog-friendly Thurloe Square Gardens.

“Thurloe Square is situated in the heart of the Thurloe/Smith Charity Conservation area and is ideally positioned in the heart of South Kensington to take advantage of the wide variety of shops, restaurants and cafes of the immediate area in Chelsea and Knightsbridge as well as excellent transport links that include Circle, District and Piccadilly lines.”

The master bedroom is 3.5m long by 3.3m wide (Rightmove)

The estate agents focus on the flat's location and give away why the flat carries such a hefty price tag.

The flat is situated in one of London's most affluent neighbourhoods with good transport links to the rest of the city.

The kitchen is 1.2m in depth and 2.1m in width (Rightmove)

With the London property market once again ramping up after a lockdown lull it will be interesting to see who snaps up this architectural anomaly.
