The texts sent to Andy Robertson from Liverpool team-mates after online abuse

Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed the Liverpool squad has united in support of Andy Robertson .

The Scotland captain was subjected to online abuse that forced him to delete his Twitter account.

So-called Liverpool fans hit out at the left-back for his performance in the 2-0 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday.

One keyboard warrior labelled Robertson – who was uncharacteristically off-form – as "brainless".

But Alexander-Arnold has lifted the lid on the backing he has received, revealing the 25-year-old has been texted by his fellow team-mates.

The right-back said: "He's mentally a really strong character, so I'm sure whatever reason he had for doing that was for the best for him.

"So, I think whenever we see each other next, it will be obviously to see how he is, make sure that nothing is too bad.

"All the lads would have texted him and spoken to him, to make sure everything is OK."
