The Terry McLaurin hype just keeps growing

Terry McLaurin was one of the NFL’s best outright stories last year, though Washington Redskins fans might feel like it didn’t get enough attention.

Fair enough. It isn’t often a third-round pick enters the NFL, is immediately protected from exposure by the coaching staff and then smoothly breaks out as a veteran-caliber No. 1 wideout.

But that’s just what McLaurin did last year and it even earned him the top grade among rookie wideouts at Pro Football Focus.

A double-digit count of receivers came off the board before McLaurin in the draft. Yet despite problems up front and spotty quarterback play, he went on to catch 58 of his 93 targets to pile up 919 yards and seven scores, including 43 first downs.

To say the future is bright is an understatement — ask most Redskins fans and they’ll probably confirm they haven’t been this excited about a young star in a long, long time.
