Masked thugs tried to break into a house while with a mum and her three children were inside.
Four men wearing balaclavas pulled up in a black BMW X5 and tried the doors of a house on Threlkeld Road, Middleton, shortly before 8pm on Monday.
Mum Nayab Azhar heard banging at the front and back doors.
Her two eldest boys, aged 10 and 8, were getting ready for bed and heard the noise too.
Nayab, who was with her 20-month-old baby, looked out of the window upstairs and spotted the masked men.

Her husband Syed Hussain was with his uncle in hospital at the time.
"The side alley alongside our house isn't lit," said Nayab.
"I think that's why they chosen our house. I went into the lounge and then I heard a really loud banging at the front door.
"My eldest one thought his dad had come back early.
"I went to the upstairs window and I saw two men with their faces covered.
"It was really scary to see. I think they saw me so they jumped the fence and sped off.
"My husband came home and had he arrived five minutes earlier he would have confronted them.
"It's frightening to think what could have happened.
"I'm really shaken up by it, as are my kids."
Nayab reported the attempted burglary the police. Officers visited later that evening.
Some of the men were caught on the couple's CCTV camera's on the house.
The mum-of-three has shared the footage to warn other residents in the area.
"People should make sure their doors and windows are locked," added Nayab.
"I want people to know about this and be aware it can happen at any time of the day."
