The terrifying image of burglars about to break into a house in the middle of the afternoon

Three hooded men have been caught on CCTV moments before they broke into a Cardiff house in the middle of the afternoon.

The clear image, which shows them all with their faces covered, has been issued by South Wales Police.

They are investigating a burglary at a house in the Old St Mellons area of the city on Saturday afternoon.

Police said it happened between 4.38pm and 4.53pm at a house on Began Road.

A spokesman said they arrived at the property in a black Honda Civic, registration SE54 AGX.

After smashing a patio door at the rear of the address, the three helped themselves to jewellery, designer handbags and car keys and a black Range Rover – registration LM68 JWP.

The Honda Civic has since been located abandoned and damaged in Ely.

The spokesman added: "Enquiries are ongoing to identify the three suspects and trace the stolen items."

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious around the time of the incident, or who has seen either vehicle being driven is asked to contact 101, quoting occurrence 1900275247.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who believes they know the identity of any of the burglars.
