The teenager determined to help others while also coping with mum's inoperable brain tumour diagnosis

A 14-year-old girl whose mum was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour two weeks before Christmas is determined to help other young girls who have lost their hair.

Abigail's McCreadie said her mum Suzanne's diagnosis has been hard for her, as well as a difficult time for her family.

The Tremorfa schoolgirl had always wanted to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust to help a young girl who had lost their hair, but it wasn't until her mum's diagnosis and for her hair to begin thinning that it gave her the motivation to actually do it.

The Little Princess Trust is a charity that provide wigs made from real hair free of charge to young girls who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and other conditions.

She said: "I'd let my hair grow out so long I could sit on it and it was always something I wanted to do but it's been so hard since mum was diagnosed, it played on my mind.

"After seeing a video online of a young girl getting a wig after losing her hair it has been something I wanted to do.

"To think I could have a part to play in making another young girl smile after going through a really difficult time and helping a little girl going through the same thing as mum would be amazing."

Abigail went to Unilox Hair and Beauty on Splott Road, Cardiff, with her aunt Linda Humphrey to have the 11 inches cut which they did free of charge as it was going to such a good cause.

Abigail's cousin Becky Humphrey said: "We're all so proud of her for how strong she has been and for doing something like this to help other young girls. She had such beautiful long hair that will now go to a young girl who needs it."
