A 17-year-old self-taught magician from Oldham is celebrating becoming the UK's top YouTuber.

Daniel Rhodes has shown a talent for magic since he was just eight-years-old.

He now he has 3.6million subscribers from all over the world to his YouTube channel and is number one in the UK.

His channel has had more than three billion views over the past two months and he's ahead of pop star Dua Lipa and the Disney Channel UK.

He ranks 15th worldwide and number seven for entertainment.

Daniel, from Shaw, Oldham, has built up a huge online following after being championed by magician to the stars Dynamo, who he has met several times.

He said: "I started performing after I got a magic kit for Christmas.

"Magic has changed my life.

"It's amazing to think that Dynamo has watched me perform."

Dynamo said Dan was one to look out for when Dan was just 10.

Asked if anyone had ever impressed him with their magic he said: "There's a young kid called Daniel Rhodes.

"Dan Dan the Magic Man. He's from Manchester, he's about 10-years-old and he sent me a YouTube clip of him doing some of his magic.

"And I thought 'that's alright, that's alright' and he did this thing at the end and I was like 'woah.'

"I think it took everyone in my office by surprise.

"The thing he did at the end was amazing. So search on YouTube for Dan Dan the Magic Man."

The teen has performed on TV in the UK.

He starred on one of the USA's most popular entertainment shows, Little Big Shots, when he was just 13.

He appeared on the 2019 series of Britain's Got Talent and was seen 'sawing' judge Amanda Holden in half.

Everyone was on tenterhooks before he magically put Amanda's body back together again.

Following his YouTube success - and after racking up five million followers on TikTok, Dan feels the future of his career is online.

"You are truly amazing," said one fan as he celebrated his success last month.

"Just the beginning," said another follower.

"Total legend!" said another fan.

His proud mum Lisa said: "From an early age, Dan has had a passion for magic.

"I remember him being sat in front of YouTube at about 8 years old, just watching the likes of Dynamo over and over again with a pack of cards in his hand, mastering how the tricks where done, over and over again until he mastered it... he hasn’t stopped since.

"His drive and ambition and love for the art is second to none and I am more than sure he will continue to succeed in everything he does!"
