The Ted Bundy film is out on Netflix but not in the UK and people aren't happy

It's one of the most hotly anticipated releases on Netflix so far this year and Zac Efron's Ted Bundy film is finally out but sadly not on Netflix UK.

his year has been a very successful one for Netflix, with a string of movies, series and documentaries all doing the business for the streaming service.

First came Sandra Bullock film Birdbox - which is getting a sequel - and then there was stalker thriller You, which will too be back for season two and then true crime drama Dirty John.

And then more recently, Netflix has given viewers a number of gripping documentaries including, the much talked about Abducted in Plain Sight , Dirty John: The Dirty Truth and of course The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann .

Also on that list is the Ted Bundy tapes and, after viewers were gripped by the series about the notorious serial killer, anticipation has been high for the movie about his life and crimes, starring Zac Efron.

It was released to Netflix in the US on Friday morning but as of yet it isn't on Netflix UK, with UK viewers needing to have Sky Cinema to watch it.

And people aren't happy!

One unhappy UK viewer tweeted "Not fair that Netflix US gets that new Ted Bundy film and Ireland and the UK only gets it on Cinemas/Sky films which most people don’t have because it’s so expensive to get the movie package? Like why can’t they be released to Netflix at the same time."

Another Netflix user ranted "Netflix especially UK version is dog s***. First the cancel Santa clarita diet and now the Ted Bundy movie isn't showing in the UK," and a third posted "The Ted Bundy film isn’t being put on uk Netflix and isn’t being shown in normal cinemas. Disappointing."

Replying to one subscribers tweet about the film, Netflix UK's account wrote "When we don't have the rights to something in the uk/ie all we can do is *not* talk about it here, which we haven't.

"Sky bought the UK rights a long, long time ago, so they weren't available here."
