The teams Rangers and Celtic could be paired with in Europa League third round qualifying

Rangers and Celtic are set to find out who they could be paired with in Europa League third round qualifying.

Both clubs will be in the hat, along with Premiership sides Aberdeen and Motherwell, when the draw takes place at midday.

Rangers were paired with Lincoln Red Imps from Gibraltar in the second round qualifying. The match will take place at the Victoria Stadium on September 17.

Celtic will go straight into the third qualifying round having dropped down from the Champions League after their shock exit to Ferencvaros last week.

Both sides will learn their potential third round opponents later on, and there are some interesting names in the hat.

Should Rangers overcome Lincoln Red Imps they could face the winner of Progres Niederkorn (again!?) v Willem II of Nederlands; Borac Banja Luca v Rio Ave or Hammarby v Lech Poznan.

Celtic could face the winners of KuPS (Fin) v Slovan Bratislava (SVK); Riga (LVA) v Tre Fiori (SMR) or Sileks (MKD) v Drita (KOS).

Away from the Glasgow clubs and it's Motherwell and Aberdeen who could face really difficult opposition.

Aberdeen could end up playing PSV or Sporting should they progress, while Motherwell might be up against the likes of Copenhagen or FC Basel.
