Team GB star Katarina Johnson-Thompson has credited Liverpool as an 'inspiration' ahead of her bid for gold at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
The Woolton-born heptathlete endured a career of ups and downs before she savoured World Championship glory in 2019, winning the gold medal with a sublime performance in Doha.
Speaking to BBC Sport ahead of the Tokyo Games, 'KJT' said her football team have instilled a never-say-die mentality in her.
"I take huge inspiration from Liverpool, to know that comebacks like that are possible and never to write anyone off," she said.
Jurgen Klopp's side have grown renowned for dramatic recoveries in recent years, most notably during the 2018-19 Champions League campaign, when they came back from a three-goal deficit against Barcelona in the semi-final first leg, winning the return fixture at Anfield 4-0.
The 28-year-old revealed her phone screensaver is of the Liverpool players celebrating in front of the Kop after that memorable night, which paved the way to a sixth European Cup success.
Johnson-Thompson goes into the Tokyo Games, which will be officially started at the opening ceremony on Friday, as one of the most high-profile members of Team GB.
In usual circumstances, the world champion would be one of the squad's biggest hopes for gold. However, she ruptured her Achilles tendon in her jumping foot in December and has had to work hard to be ready for the delayed Games.
"I was devastated and at one point it could have gone one of two ways but I'm glad it went in the best direction for me," she added. "It has been a long and tough road, but I am glad I am at the other end of it."
Johnson-Thompson's pursuit of the Olympic title will start on August 4, when she will begin the two-day heptathlon competition with the hurdles.
If she was able to get on the rostrum after a year disrupted by such a serious injury, it would be an achievement to match those accomplished by her football team over the last few years.
