The target Joelinton must hit to be judged a success at Newcastle United

I think confidence is a big factor, especially in the Premier League.

If you're not creating chances, you're not scoring many goals.

But if you're in a team that is going to play like Newcastle did for 80 minutes against West Ham, confidence will start rising. Goals will start coming.

To be fair to United's No 9 Joelinton, it was his lovely header which set up Ciaran Clark's opener.

I'll go back to Salomon Rondon last year. You're not going to get 20 league goals from Rondon, and you're not going to get 20 league goals from Joelinton.

If he can contribute with 12-15 Premier League goals and a few assists with the link-up and the hold-up, then he's done his job.

They have struggled at times, you can see confidence is low. Miguel Almiron trying too hard at times because he hasn't got a goal yet.

But I think the win will hopefully settle them down and help them play there natural game.

That results raised a few eyebrows with neutrals across the country, and maybe sent out a little message that they do mean business.

There had been murmurings about Steve Bruce's management style and filling Rafa Benitez's boots, and that can only help him and the squad.

The front three did the business on Saturday. They've got to to keep the likes of Andy Carroll and Dwight Gayle out of the team.

If their standards do drop, you've got two good lads ready to come in and take their chance. That hunger and desire to play in the first-team on a regular basis and prove a point to people or yourself. There's loads of goals you can look at for every individual in that team.

It's up to them now after playing as slick as they were, they've got to do it again.

They can't go back to that stumble and bumble which was like watching paint dry. Newcastle fans do love their attacking football, and I think that first-half performance was what fans would love to see on a weekly basis.

Hopefully it can help turn the corner with that little cushion of points above the relegation zone.
