The target Graham Potter set his Swansea City players for Hull City, Derby County and Blackburn games

Graham Potter has challenged his Swansea City players to win their final three matches of the season to give themselves a chance of reaching the Championship play-offs.

The Swans are currently five points adrift of sixth placed Derby County ahead of their clash with Hull City at the Liberty Stadium.

Victory against Nigel Adkins' side - which would be the Swans' seventh consecutive home victory in the league - would guarantee that Potter's side mathematically remain in the hunt for a top six spot going into their final two games against Derby and Blackburn.

And while he admits his side's chances are slim, Potter is targeting an overall tally of 71 points this season, a figure that would give the Swans a chance of finishing in the final play-off berth.

"It just shows the Championship is unpredictable and can throw up results," he said.

"We’re big outsiders it’s fair to say. Mathematically, while you still have a chance going into the last week, you can see why it's still a conversation.

"Realistically we have to win all of our games, it's as simple as that, and even then that might not be enough.

"It's the Championship, and at this stage of the season funny results happen. We need to focus on ourselves and the next game which is Hull City and try and win that.

"When you’re in our position, it doesn’t really matter what other teams do. Our focus is clear, we have to win our games.

"I think we’ve improved as the season has gone on. After the last international break I think our performances have got better. We’ve had good performances and not always had the results. But over the course of that time we've taken a step forward and it’s great for us, the players and the supporters to still be involved.

"I think everybody that’s in professional football, while there’s still a mathematical chance that you can achieve something, you have to plan around that until it's no longer the case.

"It think it would be amazing but we’re some way off. You can talk and dream but the reality is it won’t get you points.

"Our target is to try and get 71 points and to do that we have to win on Saturday. That’s the only way to approach this period, to take the challenge up, to be really excited about it. It’s nice having something to play for going into the last week."

Bersant Celina is set to return to the matchday squad for the visit of the Tigers.

The Kosovan missed his side's win against Ipswich Town and Rotherham United over Easter weekend due to illness but is in contention to start against Hull after returning to training this week, although it may well be that the 22-year-old is named among the substitutes.

"We have got Bersant back in the group," said Potter.

"His is a welcome return, he is an important player. We will decide whether he is ready to start because he has been a bit in and out of training these last couple of weeks.

"He will probably be closer to the bench, but we will see. But it is great to have him in the group."

But captain Leroy Fer - who made his long-awaited return to action from a hamstring injury as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Ipswich at Portman Road on Monday - is a doubt for the game due to a knee problem.

"Leroy is ok, he has had a bit of a feeling in his knee so we will check that but hopefully he will be okay," added Potter.

"It's unfortunate for him he has not been great around the group, and when he has been on the pitch his influence has helped us, but probably not as much as we would like, or he would like."
