The tape hack that helps you quickly remove pesky bugs from plants

Houseplants can look great when they're growing well, but they can be quickly spoiled if they become infested by bugs.

Getting rid of them without damaging your plants may seem tricky, but one plant-growing ace has revealed a hack that leaves bugs and mites 'dead on contact' without harming your leaves.

Armen Adamjan shared his tips with his millions of followers on TikTok, uncovering how you can use sellotape to get bugs off of your plants.

The video - where he covers a range of plant-growing hacks - received nearly 200,000 views and has been liked more than 23,000 times.

Posting under the username @creative_explained, Armen reveals the trick in the clip, saying: “To quickly remove bugs off leaves, just wrap some tape around your hand and then just tap away.”

He wraps some tape around his hand with the sticky side facing outwards and shows himself lightly tapping the leaves in the videoas it picks up the bugs.

He then shows the bugs on his taped hand, saying that they are dead on contact. He jokes: “Sorry spider mites."

He reveals other plant hacks in the video too, saying: “If you put a sponge in the bottom of a pot it will act as a water reserve for your plant, keeping the soil nice and moist.

“Sprinkle cinnamon on the soil to keep ants away, and stimulate root growth.

“Misting your plants with camomile tea will boost their growth, and prevent diseases on the leaves.

“If you want your plants to bloom, sprinkle some Epsom salt on the soil."

Another trick revealed by the plant-growing ace involves some dinner leftovers. Armen says: “After you’re done boiling potatoes [and] all that water is packed with nutrients, don’t dump it out.

"Save it and use it to fertilise your plants.”

A further food-related plant hack involves an egg, with Armen saying: “Put a whole egg in the hole next time you plant something. It’ll enrich the soil.”

Viewers were impressed with the tricks and tips, with one commenter saying: “Where have you been during my gardening”, while another said: “how do people even discover these hacks?!?”

A third joked: “What if someone used all of his hacks and made the most overpowered plant of all time”.

One other commenter who gave one of the tricks a try said: “Loved the cinnamon powder trick, worked like a charm.”
