The Tammy Abraham comments that will be music to Chelsea fans' ears after impressive run of form

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has admitted that he has set targets for himself in his head as he seeks to continue building upon a superb start to the season.

The 22-year-old has scored 10 Premier League goals in 13 matches this term, as well as opening his account on the European stage during Chelsea's Champions League campaign.

That has seen him surge to the top of the scoring charts, as one of only two players to have hit double figures in the league already, and has the Chelsea striker on a path towards representing England at next summer's European Championships.

Following such a meteoric rise, it may seem difficult to stay grounded but Abraham has made it clear he isn't at the level he wants to be at yet and continues to set himself targets.

“I’ve got a goal in my head of where I want to get to, I’m getting there gradually but it’s still early doors,” he told BT Sport.

“God willing, I have 10, 12 or 15 years left of my career. I just want to go out there and do the best that I can so that when I return, I’ve done it all really. It’s just about focusing, I know where I want to get to.

“Nothing is going to stop me, I’ve just got to stay focused and stay grounded.”

Abraham went off injured in the 2-2 draw with Valencia this evening (Wednesday), although it is hoped that his injury was not too serious, with Frank Lampard confirming that it may not be as bad as first feared.

"The word at half time was it looked quite severe, a bang on the hip," he said.

"Then the word after the game was it might not be as severe as we first thought. That’s as much details as I have."
