Mikel Arteta has admitted that Arsenal have 'so many things to do' this summer and making a decision on Joe Willock's future will surely be near the top of the Gunners' boss' list.
Willock has been revelation since joining Newcastle United on loan earlier this year and the in-form midfielder has scored crucial goals against Southampton, Spurs, West Ham, Liverpool and Leicester.
Those five goals have helped Newcastle earn 11 points and to put that haul into perspective, no Arsenal player has managed to score more goals than Willock in the league since he joined the Magpies on deadline day.
As well as blossoming on the field, Willock feels part of the Newcastle 'family' and the Londoner has settled in the area after moving away from home for the first time.
Steve Bruce would dearly love to extend the 21-year-old's stay on Tyneside and the Newcastle head coach will have 'big conversations' with the club's hierarchy in the coming weeks about the Magpies' summer budget, which has been hit by the pandemic.
Arsenal have also suffered huge losses as a result of a lack of match day revenue and Arteta has been in 'constant communication' with club chiefs ahead of a crucial summer window for the Gunners' manager.
When asked if he would have to sell players in order to bring in new recruits, Arteta said it was not 'completely like that' before the Spaniard acknowledged that 'it will restrict and alter some plans in relation to what happens with one or two'.
"There's so many things to do because we already have a lot of players on loan, a lot of players with contracts still that we have to sort," he told reporters on Zoom.
"It will depend on what happens with a lot of those players and what we are able to recruit to improve the team is going to determine where we are."
