The tactical changes Manchester United made to beat West Ham

Manchester United tweaked their tactics to suit Bruno Fernandes as they came from behind to win away from home again in the Premier League.

United trailed West Ham 1-0 at the pause at the London Stadium but Fernandes and Marcus Rashford came on at half-time to spark a 3-1 comeback victory.

Rashford replaced the injured Edinson Cavani but Fernandes was introduced for Donny van de Beek in a tactical move that allowed the playmaker to thrive ahead of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

"First-half, we had loads of the ball but couldn't create anything," Solskjaer said. "Second-half, I thought we tweaked a couple of things tactically, just small little things, making the space bigger, a couple of runs that we made that created space for Bruno in the middle.

"The quality of the finish - the three goals were all an exceptional finish - and that was the difference between us and them today. They had chances as well in the first-half but they couldn't score. The quality we had in the second-half was too high.

"We’re playing against a very good side, they’ve drawn to Tottenham, they've drawn to City, they should have got points against Liverpool, they beat Wolves and they beat Leicester.

"They're a very, very good team and that made it difficult for us because they've got an X-factor and they've got the quality in the big moments of the game, set-plays definitely, counter-attacks.

"We had the ball - I’m sure we had about 65% possession in the first-half - but we couldn't control their big moments and the goals. When we got on the front foot we looked like ourselves.

"We have done this too many times - coming back from 1-0 down - for it to be a coincidence to have this character and the mentality is one of the biggest things that I take from these away games.

"They always believe in themselves, we trust ourselves, there’s no shouting and screaming, and all that, we believe in our teammates and believe in ourselves."
