The Syrian refugee children of Zaatari camp – in pictures

Syrian Refugees : Giles Duley Syrian Refugees Zaatari Camp
In this image, Duley photographed mothers with their children – all born since the war started – against a white background. “When you lose the setting [of the refugee camp], the photograph becomes about them as individuals,” Duley explains. The striking panoramic is a composite of five photographs digitally stitched together. But instead of smoothing out the joins between each photograph in Photoshop, Duley decided to keep them in – “The whole point about this is that nothing is fake,” he says

"I have been in Jordan for one year and one month. I left Syria when I was pregnant. A shell destroyed our house and we had to leave. I would prefer to die than lose my dignity"

"I have four children: two sons and two daughters. My eldest child is seven years old and the youngest is only six months old. The weather in Syria used to always be calm. Things are different here. My children used to be carefree, now they are afraid of shells and fighting. Life is different. I worry how I can provide food for my family, to keep us alive. The thing I miss most about Syria is my two brothers"
