The Swansea City transfer headlines as Celtic emerge as rivals for £1.5m star, Max Watters stance and exits expected

Swansea City and Celtic have shown an interest in signing Exeter City's Joel Randall, according to reports.

The left-sided attacker has netted eight goals in all competitions for the Grecians so far this term and has been described by boss Matt Taylor as his side's "standout player".

And The Athletic claim the Swans and Celtic have expressed an interest in the 21-year-old.

Randall has been with Exeter since he was 11 and made his first team league bow for the club in a 2-0 win over Cambridge United in January last year.

Meanwhile, Swansea were eager to strike a deal to sign Southampton striker Michael Obafemi.

The Republic of Ireland international has made just two appearances for the Saints in all competitions so far this term.

And boss Ralph Hasenhüttl was expected to send out the 20-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season, with Swansea and Stoke City both keen to sign the youngster on a temporary basis.

However, The Athletic report that Obafemi suffered a significant muscle injury in training on Sunday, meaning he is set to remain with the Saints.

The Swans have found the going tough in their pursuit of Crawley Town forward Max Watters due to the League Two club's transfer demands.

It's understood they want at least £1m for their current top scorer.

As for exits, Declan John looks poised to join Bolton Wanderers on loan this week.

The Welshman's Swansea contract expires at the end of the current campaign, meaning he could see out the final days of his existing deal while with the Trotters.

Kasey Palmer and Viktor Gyokeres could also depart this month.

It is expected that at least one of the pair will return to their parent club by the end of the January transfer window as Steve Cooper bids to free up space to recruit players on loan.
