The Swansea City transfer headlines as attacker sent back from European loan, US star deal in balance and Derby County youngster set for medical

These are your Swansea City transfer headlines on Sunday, January 31.

Asoro sent home

Reports in Italy (via SportWitness ) state that Joel Asoro will be sent back to Swansea today.

The former Sunderland man's loan spell with Genoa has been a disaster, with the winger not featuring once for the Serie A side.

He now faces an uncertain future, with Steve Cooper making it clear he will not be part of his first-team plans this season back in SA1.

Speaking earlier this month, Cooper said : "I haven't had a conversation with Joel, his representatives or Genoa.

"We do monthly reports on our players that are out on loan, and we get all of the information, whether it's data, feedback or footage, we always get good reports back every month.

"I know he hasn't featured at all, so it's obviously not ideal for him. Whether he comes back here or not, he won't be part of our first-team set-up."

Arriola deal hangs in balance

A loan move for US international Paul Arriola looks increasingly perilous as the clock ticks down towards the deadline.

The 25-year-old is currently on international duty and is due to face Trinidad and Tobago tomorrow. Any move for the winger now looks hamstrung by time constraints and logistics.

Speaking to US news outlets yesterday, he said : "The reality is, I don't have too much to share.

"Obviously there's only a few days left in the transfer window, and right now, the only thing I can do is stay focused on the game. We've worked extremely hard as a group for the past three weeks.

"Tomorrow is the final day. I'm just focused on that and having the best game that I can and hopefully helping the team to get the victory.

"I'm a player first and foremost and I'm here with the national team. There's obviously been a lot of talk about me potentially going to Europe on loan, but right now, I can't really do much.

"A lot of it is out of my control. All I can focus on is playing on the field and leave it up to my agent and leave it to the clubs to try and figure that out.

"I'm just trying to stay focused on what I can control, and what I can control is how I sleep tonight, how I respond to questions and focusing on the game."

Whittaker set for medical

Derby County youngster Morgan Whittaker is set for a medical at Swansea tomorrow.

News emerged on Saturday night that the Rams had accepted a bid from Swansea, believed to be in the region of £700,000.

And the England Under-20 man will undertake a medical at Swansea's Fairwood training base on deadline day ahead of sealing a permanent transfer.
