The Swansea City player ratings as star gives best-ever display in Swans shirt and brilliant defensive rock shines

Here's how the players rated in the clash with Reading at the Liberty Stadium.

FREDDIE WOODMAN 7

Could do little about the goal. Was otherwise as solid as ever when called upon. Deserved a clean sheet

CONNOR ROBERTS  7

Was one of several players guilty of going off the boil after the break. Still, a fairly decent return to action.

MIKE VAN DER HOORN 7

Solid as ever. Dominant in the air. Read the game brilliantly at times to stop Reading dead in their tracks.

JOE RODON 7

Read as above

KYLE NAUGHTON 6

Composed enough on the left-hand side, Picked out some decent passes, but was guilty of losing it a little cheaply on occasion. Also guilty of giving Yiadom too much space shortly before the equaliser.

JAY FULTON 7

Mopped up brilliantly in front of the back four again. Another strong performance in the middle of the park. Eventually subbed.

MATT GRIMES (C) 7

Seemed to launch counter-attacks at will, but also lost his way a little after the break.

ANDRE AYEW 7

Had he continued with the same intensity as the first half he would have come close to a 10. Dropped off after the break.

GEORGE BYERS  7

Little to take issue with from this performance. Another solid showing.

BERSANT CELINA  7

Was at the heart of much that was good about Swansea's attacking threat. Played some neat one-twos and got himself into some good areas. Lacked a cutting edge. Subbed

BORJA BASTON 8 Star man

Took his goal superbly, and also linked up well with the likes of Ayew and Celina in the final third. Held the ball up brilliantly too. Subbed, but this was one of his best games in a Swansea shirt.

SUBS:

Jordon Garrick (On for Celina 77) - Offered a typical injection of pace but couldn't make an impact - 6

Sam Surridge (On for Borja 77) - Got himself in the right positions, but couldn't apply a finish and missed a big chance to kill the game 6

Tom Carroll (On for Fulton 82) - A welcome return to league action in a Swans shirt, but ultimately came on too late to make an impact 6
