The Swansea City player ratings as Bersant Celina runs riot and words running out to describe Andre Ayew

FREDDIE WOODMAN 6

Had precious little to do in the opening half, but reacted well to tip Andrew Shinnie's drilled striker over. Caught out in the second half after racing off his line but was bailed out by Mike van der Hoorn.

CONNOR ROBERTS 7

Had a tough job on his hands early on with James Bree causing problems, but the Welshman got to grips with it and was hugely influential going forward too.

MIKE VAN DER HOORN 8

A fine performance from the Dutchman who brought a calm head to proceedings. In the right place to keep out George Moncur's shot when Woodman was caught in no man's land.

BEN WILMOT 7

Really solid effort from the centre-back on his return to the first team. Had a brutal battle on his hands with James Collins but coped relatively well on the whole.

JAKE BIDWELL 6

A little sloppy in the first 45 but was improved after the break. Put in some testing crosses from the left and was solid at the back too.

GEORGE BYERS 6

Vital block to deny Harry Cornick early on in the game. Byers had two decent efforts at goal in the second half too before later being booked for diving in the box.

MATT GRIMES 7

Another slick performance in the middle from the captain. Range of passing in the first half ensured Swansea caused problems. Can be pleased with his performance.

ANDRE AYEW 8 - Star Man

What more can you say about the Ghana international? Put in a monumental shift and almost claimed an outrageous assist with a flick to Borja Baston. Got the winner eight minutes from time with what was his 10th goal of the campaign. A quick scroll of social media after the game will show you how valued he is by supporters.

TOM CARROLL 7

Making his 100th appearance for the club on his return from suspension, Carroll linked up play nicely and offered a little more creativity further up the pitch.

BERSANT CELINA 8

Offered more of a threat than he has done of late. Put some testing crosses into the box and looked dangerous when running directly at the Luton defence. Had an effort well blocked too. Best game for a long time.

BORJA BASTON 6

Fed off scraps for long spells but had a golden chance shortly after the restart, although his shot was well blocked by Matty Pearson. Hooked in the 75th minute.

Subs

Wayne Routledge (for Borja) - Put a shift in up top when he came on. 6

Jay Fulton (for Carroll) - Protected the defence and got an all-important assist. 7

Kyle Naughton (for Celina) - Vital header to clear an effort late on. 6
