The Swansea City player ratings as Allen and Wood impressive in Sheffield United sickener

STEVEN BENDA 6

In slick conditions, the German took no chances early on, and his distribution was poor as a result, although it ensured he didn't invite pressure on to his own goal. Good save to deny Rhys Norrington-Davies and impressed aerially, but beaten at the death.

NATHAN WOOD 7

Very composed on the ball throughout and made numerous interceptions to help Swansea get up the pitch. He's becoming a real key figure.

KYLE NAUGHTON 6

Playing at the heart of the back three, Naughton made numerous vital defensive interventions to limit the threat on Benda's goal. Will be disappointed with the Blades' winner amid claims for a free-kick though. The only blot on his copybook.

BEN CABANGO 6

Adopted a no-nonsense approach when required and his aerial presence was more than useful against a Sheffield United side packed with towering players.

MATTY SORINOLA 6

Made numerous clearances and interceptions and worked hard throughout. Withdrawn.

JOE ALLEN - Star Man 7

Generally slick in the middle of the park and did his defensive duties well when needed, making plenty of tackles. So much composure when needed in another fine display. Didn't deserve to be on the losing side.

MATT GRIMES 6

A few sloppy touches aside, the captain was generally good on the ball and kept things ticking over.

RYAN MANNING 7

The Irishman was a real bundle of energy on the left flank and impressed both defensively and in attack. Good shift.

JAY FULTON 6

A couple of moments of real skill in the Blades' half but also took safer options at times too, which wasn't always a bad thing. Subbed.

OLLIE COOPER 6

Showed the same energy levels he has done since coming into the side and looked to be direct when possible. Opted against shooting after getting into a fine position shortly before coming off.

JOEL PIROE 6

Had a fine chance early on and was involved in all of Swansea's best attacking play. Another brilliant chance in the second-half but couldn't quite take it. Plenty of good work in attack, just not the final touch.

Subs

Jamie Paterson (for Cooper) - Couldn't really change things in the final third and couldn't get a shot away before the counter that led to the Blades' winner. 6

Olivier Ntcham (for Fulton) - Worked hard which shows he's taken the manager's message on board, but ultimately couldn't provide the killer instinct in the final third. 6

Fin Stevens (for Sorinola) - Got forward well but was a tad loose in possession. 6
